Surely I Come Quickly: Even so, Come, Lord Jesus
Revelation 22:20 [show/hide]Revelation 22:20
[20]He who testifies to these things says, "Surely I am coming soon." Amen. Come, Lord Jesus! (ESV)![]()
He which testifieth these things said, surely I come quickly: Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.
In the inwardness of prayer we see its subjective power, transforming the church into the likeness of Christ. But we also see that prayer is an objective power, mighty to accomplish. It is in no sense an effort to change the will of God; but a taking hold in cooperation with Him, according to His own foreordained plan to bring about what He wills.
We see in Scripture, that every great event has been brought forth by prayer. So to-day, the ever-increasing volume of prayer is the power that is propelling the ponderous wheels of providence preparatory to the parousia of the Son of man.
The advent will be, the Lord Jesus given in response to the prayer of His people; and it will also be His reception of the church in answer to His own prayer. – J.A. Fraser.
It is ever timely, never more so than now, to pray the prayer with which the inspired volume closes. “Even so come Lord Jesus.”
